INTERMEDIATE 3 - adjective clauses

I am writing about a grammar point which is fundamental for your learning.

This is the post that will provide you with extra practice about adjective clauses with relative pronouns.

Find a vocabulary item you want to learn and make a sentence. For example, I am reading  a book whose main characters are cats. Tortoiseshell cats appear in the story.

My first reaction was to imagine a tortoise. Then, I found out the following:

A tortoiseshell cat is a cat that has a mixed color fur!

who or which?

*In class we have only studied that/who/whom because the other relative pronouns will be part of lessons in a different cycle.

Here is the video we saw in class:

vocabulary:
forlorn: sad and lonely
tattered: torn into shreds

PRONUNCIATION - BAD WORDS!

WHAT IS THIS?

AND THIS?

How do you pronounce 'beach'? This is one of the most popular questions for English learners.

I am sure  your teachers have clarified carefully. Nonetheless, I'll seize the opportunity to introduce an awesome site: Rachel's English
Rachel is a teacher with extensive experience since 1999 and she is a singer and pronunciation coach. You will be exposed to native English speakers. Besides this, there are excerpts from real life conversations.

Watch her videos for American English pronunciation!

Idiom of the week - CAT IN HELL!

My first post about idioms! Little by little I come up with more ideas for the blog. I'll try to post a weekly idiom at random.  It'll depend on the inspiration of the moment.

As you must already know, I am fond of cats. So to honor them I have chosen the following

not a cat's chance in hell

image thanks to : CATATONIC

It is said that cats possess nine lives. So it's not likely you have the same chances as one.

(also not have a snowball's chance in hell) not to be able to achieve something

We don't have a cat's chance in hell of buying a new apartment this month.

They don't have a cat's chance in hell of presenting the report today.

INTERMEDIATE 4 - Pros and cons of a controversial issue, writing

Being authentic is important. Giving your own opinion it, too. However, in order to support your views first you need to have information, experience and knowledge of other views. This will let us take part in richer debates. For this reason I have looked for online material you can use as inspiration.
